Steinway & Sons was founded in 1853 by German immigrant Heinrich Engelhard Steinweg (later Henry Steinway) in New York City. The company quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality pianos, emphasizing craftsmanship, innovation, and acoustical perfection. By the late 19th century, Steinway had introduced numerous technical patents that significantly advanced piano construction, solidifying its position as a premier piano maker. Steinway pianos became known for their rich tonal quality, responsive action, and durability, attracting world-class pianists. Over the decades, Steinway continued to grow, establishing a factory in Hamburg, Germany, and becoming a leading name in luxury grand and upright pianos worldwide.
The 1920-1930’s has been coined as the “golden years” of Steinway and is considered by many in the industry to be when they were at the height of their craftsmanship, making these vintages highly sought after.

Pre-owned Steinway uprights tend to be more rare on the pre-owned market, which makes this late 60’s console all the more a great talking piece in any one’s home. It has smooth feeling action across all the keys and an overall balanced mellow tone. The cabinet is also in fantastic condition given its age.
Local delivery (within 30 miles of our store) of an upright this size would typically cost $200, and is included at no extra charge with purchase.
