How Online Rentals Work

* Select the instrument you want to rent used or new. All our rentals are quality school approved name-brands that will help your child learn to love playing music.

* Decide if you want to add our optional Peace Of Mind Assurance protection plan. This covers accidental damage and theft of the rental and starts at $6/month for most instruments.

* Our program is rent-to-buy-new. Your on-time payments of your base rent accumulates toward the purchase of a brand new instrument in the same family as your rental.

* There is no cap to how much credit you can build up while renting. Every on-time payment applies toward your rental credit.

* Rental prices are locked in for as long as you are renting that instrument and there are no exchange fee's to swap out to another instrument.

* Rentals are billed once a month on the 1st, 7th, 15th, or 21st depending on the closest date the rental was started on.

* Rentals are for a three (3) paid month minimum period and become month-to-month afterwards. You only pay first months rent to start.

* The rental ends when you A) return the instrument to California Keyboards or B) use your rental credit to make an instrument purchase.

FAQ

Our rent-to-rent program is better than rent-to-own. #1 You can use your rental credit toward a new instrument like the one you are renting or even another brand. #2 You can use rental credit toward a pro level instrument (at retail price). #3 There is no cap to how much rental credit you can accrue while renting. Every on-time payment of your base rent (minus taxes or protection plan coverage) can apply toward a purchase.

Our program is designed for you to build up rental credit toward the purchase of a brand new instrument within the same instrument family as the one you’re renting. For instance, a violin rental would be in the orchestra family of violin, viola, cellos, and upright basses.  The instruments must be purchased at the retail price and be in-stock in our store at the time of purchase. You cannot use rental credit for special orders of an instrument that is not in-stock.

Yes, you can use any amount of on-time rental credit you’ve accumulated to purchase a new instrument in the same family as your rental (at retail price equal in value to your rental or higher). To use your rental credit, you need to return your instrument to our store and pay any difference remaining toward the instrument you are buying.

Return the instrument to our store to end the rental. If you live outside of the Bakersfield area, you need to call our store and ask for an RA to ship back your instrument. A shipping fee may apply.

Strings are sold separately and are not covered under our Peace Of Mind Assurance.  We do not charge for labor to put on replacement strings.

You must file a police report within 24 hours of the incident and give us a copy of the report within 72 hours.  If you chose to opt into our POM assurance plan, you will be covered for a replacement. There is a replacement deductible as follows: $25 per incident for bell kit/snare kit/combo kit, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, violin, and viola; $50 per incident for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, bass clarinet, french horn (single or double), F trigger trombone, oboe, cello, and string bass.
