Mrs. Mock is classically trained in piano and violin, beginning her studies on piano at the age of 4 in Sunnyvale, CA. In addition to piano and violin, she plays and teaches fiddle, guitar and ukulele, and offers vocal coaching. She has a Master's Degree in Music Education from Grand Canyon University, AZ. Mrs. Mock has been teaching for over 30 years in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties and now resides in Kern County. She is experienced as a soloist, concertmistress, conductor (band and orchestra), choir director and instructor. She studied vocal pedagogy with an emphasis on directing, 4-part harmony and coaching at Harmony University offered by the Barbershop Harmony Society. She has performed and competed with numerous mixed harmony quartets and sung with many choirs and vocal ensembles. She played violin in a number of symphonies and orchestras, and was a fiddler for several country rock and bluegrass bands. She was pianist and choir director at her church in Santa Cruz County. In addition to private lessons, Mrs. Mock has taught music in elementary and secondary schools, community colleges and adult education and offers virtual lessons upon request.

Mrs. Mock's extensive background as a student, teacher and performer are reflected in her teaching style. As a teacher, Mrs. Mock is patient, innovative and confident and she imparts these qualities to her students. She has a keen ability to modify her teaching methods to best suit the needs of each student. She is deeply committed to a very high standard of excellence in music education and explores the full potential of every student. She works with students age 4 to adult, and has had several students over 70 who benefitted greatly from lessons. Mrs. Mock's students perform several times a year in recitals where they can showcase their latest musical achievements. Private lessons will include note recognition, sight reading, ear training, technique, music theory and stylistic elements. Students may also request assistance with compositions, musical theatre preparation, vocal harmony or other specialized interest on a case by case basis.
