Ultrasonic Cleaning


What is it, and how does it help my instrument?

Ultrasonic cleaning is a high-tech method of cleaning your band instrument.  Some of its features:

  1. •Environmentally friendly & safe

  2. •Eliminates the need for dangerous acids

  3. •Ability to clean interior and exterior surfaces

  4. •Removes calcium and lime deposits

  5. •Extremely fast

  6. •Proven to be better than mechanical or chemical cleaning

Ultrasonic cleaning uses high frequency sound waves to generate a process called cavitation. Micron-size bubbles form and grow due to alternating positive and negative pressure waves in a solution. When the bubbles are subjected to these alternating pressure waves, they grow until they reach a certain size. At this time there is a large amount of energy stored in the bubble itself. The temperature inside the bubble can be quite high with pressure readings of 500 atm.

At this point, the bubble implodes. When it does, it is forced into the instrument surface at speeds of up to 400 km/hr. At the point of impact, the bubble releases contaminants that are stuck to the substrate. Because the bubble is so small it can reach into the smallest of crevices and remove trapped debris, dust, and dirt easily and effectively.

Stuck Mouthpiece Removal









NEVER use pliers to attempt removing a mouthpiece! 
It will cause serious damage to the mouthpiece and usually breaks something on the instrument as well.
With the proper tools, this is a routine issue that we can normally address on the spot.  Bring your stuck mouthpiece to us and you'll be in and out in minutes.
